From beneath a timeworn facade emerged original cornerboards, fish-scale scalloped shingles and other fancy artistry heralding the victorian age. This stately structure, one a rectory, is an authentic 'painted lady' -- its multicolored exterior proudly proclaimes late 19th century stylistic proclivities. Throughout the innkeeper has faithfully maintained the victorian manor house's ambiance. Splendid period detail, such as the original Eastlake Newel post, Sandwich-glassed double door and other architectural nuances, have been restored. In its new incarnation, the inne encourages respite and relaxation, emboying exceptional attention to detail. The bistro bar invites convivial conversation after a strenuous day of sightseeing, the fire is always laid on a chilly evening, common rooms are punctuated with elegance - Queen Anne settees, a walkthrough butler's pantry, antique Haviland and Limoges China, original wainscoting, built-in China cabinets, heirloom oriental carpets. Fourteen glorious guest chambers, each with private bath and ceiling fan, include thoughtful touches such as working fireplaces, balconies, skylights and vintage bathtubs.
